Preclinical Science Major
MABUUK
C32 BACHELOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE

The Preclinical Science Major will equip students with a broad knowledge in medical sciences, skills and professional attributes required to continue personal development, life-long learning and inquiry. This provides a base for entry into the health professions, medical research and development and health education, opening doors to many careers including medicine. Students are required to complete 240 credit points (16 units) to complete the Major. Students will be taught using a combination of in-class lectures with on-line availability, tutorials, laboratory sessions and a ‘real-life’ research environment, which reinforce theory through practical skills development. This Major develops graduate attributes through engagement with the learning content and processes. As students read, reflect, critically evaluate literature and current scientific issues, their professional knowledge in the medical sciences will be developed. Assessment tasks will develop communication, teamwork, critical appraisal, problem-solving and decision-making skills and a cross-cultural outlook.
