Physical Science Education Major
MABUTT
Y68 BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY)

The science and education units in this program will focus on pedagogy and content that equips graduates to teach general science in lower secondary school and to take a specialist teaching role in physical science courses (that is, Chemistry and Physics) in upper secondary school (Years 11 and 12). Emphasis is given to inquiry based practical work, demonstrations, co-operative group work, whole class discussions and use of information communication technology, to ensure effective learning and teaching practices in secondary science. Planning, teaching, and assessment strategies will be developed within a range of science content areas. Units in this program address key physical science understandings and provide the extended content knowledge needed to address the demands and opportunities of the secondary school physical science curriculum.

Special Admission Requirements

A satisfactory performance in WACE Mathematics General 3C/3D or Mathematics: Specialist 3A/3B and satisfactory performance in 3A/3B Chemistry or 3A/3B Physics, or equivalents are required.
