W10 Graduate Diploma in Dementia Studies

The Graduate Diploma in Dementia Studies is ideally suited to healthcare professionals involved in providing care or support for people with dementia and their carers. The course is relevant to acute care, long term residential aged care, and community care settings and to professionals such as Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Pathologists.

SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

a) Prospective students must provide evidence of having completed a bachelor degree in a health related field. The course coordinator maintains the right to approve all evidence for admission. Although a relevant bachelor degree is generally required, therapists with a clinically-based diploma will be eligible for enrolment at the discretion of the course coordinator, after assessment of relevant prior education and/or experience; and

b) A certified copy of the prospective student’s proof of identity containing a photograph is required (for example a passport or driver’s licence).

 

Students are required to provide:

a) evidence of a minimum of 18 hours current employment per week in the clinical dementia specialty; and

b) a copy of the prospective student’s current curriculum vitae demonstrating a minimum of two years full-time clinical professional experience within the area of dementia care.

The Graduate Diploma in Dementia Care is a 120 point credit course, comprising of six units.
