VIS3530 Painting Life and Death

Description:

Working from studio arrangements and external site visits, the student will undertake both perceptual and conceptual approaches to representation. This unit addresses the history and contemporary practice of painting, by examining local, cross-cultural and indigenous Australian approaches. The social and cultural associations in representations of life and death will also be explored and students will be encouraged to develop creative personal responses in their image making. The program will allow for an engagement with a variety of painting materials.
