EDU4110 Literacies in Teaching and Learning

Description:

This unit considers how teaching and learning in secondary schools can be improved through better understanding of literacy and improved literacy practices. The unit content covers traditional language-based literacies, contemporary ICT literacies, and the relationship between them. Pre-service teachers will learn to: identify the literacy challenges in specific curriculum areas and in the secondary curriculum generally: acquire practical classroom strategies to help students meet these challenges; and extend their own ICT literacies for instructional and professional purposes.
