Literature and Writing Major  
MABUTF 
Y40 BACHELOR OF ARTS 
 

This 8 unit (120 credit points) major will prepare students to enter the world of work as a critical reader and thinker and a skilled writer in a variety of styles and forms. These are marketable skills for leadership in many organisations. Students with a passion for writing will be able to explore the work of other authors while nurturing their capacity for creativity.

FOUNDATION
Students undertaking a major in Literature and Writing must complete at least two (30 credit points) of the following units from the first year foundation programme:

CCI1102 Visual and Graphic Fundamentals 15
CMM1101 Reading Media Texts 15
SST1210 Event Management 15
VIS1305 Materials and Methods: Approaches to Studio 15
WRT1103 Creativity and Writing 15
 
YEAR TWO / YEAR THREE UNITS
Students undertaking a major in Literature and Writing must complete the following eight units (120 credit points):
 
CCC3103 Literature and Social Change 15
CCC3106 Contemporary Australian Literature 15
CCC3108 Ecology and Literature 15
CCC3109 Speculative Fiction 15
CCC3210 Creative Writing 15
CCC3211 Narrative and Film 15
CCC3217 Writing for Publication 15
WRT3120 Biographical and Autobiographical Writing 15
 
Please note that all level 2 and 3 units are available on a two year rotation. Students may commence major units in their first year of study.
 
ELECTIVE UNITS
Students may use one of the following units as a substitute with the approval of the Course Coordinator:
