This unit investigates various theoretical positions regarding the effective motivation and management of student learning. Practices of effective teachers will be examined to identify the connection between meaningful learning, curriculum and on task behaviour. Embedded within this unit is a 29 day Work Place Learning experience. Pre-service teachers will be placed in a primary school context to engage in collaborative small group and whole class management practices, classroom observations, planning and assessing learning experiences. They will become immersed in the work of primary teachers. Pre-service teachers will be required to adhere to the School of Education's Professional Practice Rules and Procedures and Code of Professional Conduct and to hold a current National Criminal History Check (CRC) and Working with Children Check (WWC) before commencing their practicum. This is a designated unit.
