Museum Studies Minor

This minor has broad application to people interested in, or working with, collections in museums, heritage buildings or schools, or those wishing to work in the industry, either for paid employment or as volunteers.  It is offered as a series of weekend modules throughout the year, half of which are compulsory. It is designed to build student capacity to understand and evaluate museum theory and practice, and critically engage with the issues facing those working in museums, art museums and related heritage and collection institutions. This course, both hands-on and theoretical, covers current museums' theory and practices of collection care, management, public programs and the display of heritage items in contemporary museums, and is taught by practicing museum professionals.
