K15 Bachelor of Education (Primary) | |
This is a dynamic course dedicated to preparing future teachers for all facets of the Primary education profession. Since the course is designed specifically to develop professional knowledge in both theory and essential practice within real classrooms, graduates are provided with all the necessary tools to become successful and confident teachers. An impressive feature of the course is the opportunity to complete a fast-tracked final year and achieve eligibility for employment in schools from term 4 of that year. Successful completion of this course presents graduates with the opportunity to teach junior, middle and upper primary students in government and private schools.
Central to this course is an extensive program of Professional Practice in schools. Because of its responsibility for the education, safety and well-being of children in schools, the teaching profession demands the highest professional standards and personal ethics. The Professional Practice Rules and Procedures and Code of Professional Conduct for ECU teaching students can be accessed at: http://www.education.ecu.edu.au/prac/.
To undertake a professional practice in a school ALL teaching students must have supplied ECU with evidence of the following valid clearance: · National Criminal History Record Check (NCHRC) from the Department of Education WA.
In addition, all teaching students 18 years of age and over must have supplied ECU with evidence of the following valid clearance: · Working with Children Check from the Department of Child Protection WA.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Flexibile, multiple entry pathways are available including ATAR ,direct entry, portfolio entry, Certificate IV and above from a recognised TAFE institution, STAT and the ECU University Preparation Course.
Teachers need to have high levels of literacy and numeracy to support the development of student’s reading and writing skills. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are therefore required from teaching students in order to successfully complete a course in teacher education. |

SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Special English Entry Requirements
Applicants who have completed their secondary education studies in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA, do not need to provide proof of English competency.
