ADM3301 Management Principles and Practices 3
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS
Credit Points: 30
Prerequisites:
ADM2201 Management Principles and Practices 2

Description:
This unit is concerned with the fields of general management, strategic planning and policy formulation. It is a 'capstone' unit which aims to provide the student with a general management perspective. This involves the application of a 'systems viewpoint' and incorporates dealing with each component of the system in an holistic manner. The systematic approach to corporate planning requires an integration of the objectives for the different functional areas (e.g., marketing, finance, personnel) and a clear understanding of the relationship between the total organisation and its environment. The unit is largely in the form of self-study and provides the basis for a comprehensive organisational analysis of a host company. During the placement each student undertakes a detailed analysis of the management systems within the host company and prepares an extensive report. A three-hour tutorial runs for the first eight weeks of the semester, which provides the basic framework for the generation of the written analysis. Tuition continues on an appointment basis (one-on-one) when the student requires it.
