Description:

This unit identifies the significance of the current contexts of education whereby educational policies across all sectors reflect a commitment to social, cultural, political and legislative action that provides quality educational experiences for all learners. In this Work Place Learning (WPL) unit, pre-service teachers will actively engage with the challenges and practices of inclusive education in the classroom and the broader educational setting. Pre-service teachers will be required to design, implement and evaluate differentiated teaching strategies, programs and assessment tasks in inclusive and critically reflective ways and in a manner that is responsive to the diverse nature of the students in specific classes. Further, they will be required to argue personal/professional orientations to curriculum, teaching and assessment reflecting practices that offer all students access to quality learning experiences. Pre-service teachers will be required to adhere to the School of Education's Professional Practice Rules and Procedures and Code of Professional Conduct and to hold a National Criminal History Record Check (CRC) and Working with Children Check (WCC) before commencing their practicum. This is a designated unit.
