WPL1100 Workplace Learning 1: Introduction to the Primary School Classroom

Description:

This unit is an introduction to teaching, schools and the classroom context. Pre-service teachers will develop knowledge of how to plan learning experiences and apply informal assessment strategies to evaluate student achievement of intended learning outcomes. The Professional Learning Journal will be introduced with a focus on developing the ability to use a reflective writing framework structure to guide reflection. The importance of effective teaching resources to motivate and support student learning will be examined. There is a school-based practical component in this unit. Pre-service teachers will be required to adhere to the School of Education's Professional Practice Rules and Procedures and Code of Professional Conduct and to hold a current National Criminal History Check (CRC) and Working with Children Check (WWC) before commencing their practicum. This is a designated unit.
