K96 Bachelor of Science (Security Management)

The course is designed to prepare students for security management roles in the corporate environment. The course also provides a solid grounding in security advisory roles in government agencies. In addition students can study a secondary specialisation in occupational health and safety, business or environmental science.

This course focuses on the core elements of risk management, security management and security technology. Specific areas of study include security operations and implementation, organisational survival, threat analysis, corporate resilience, protection of facilities, intelligence operations, post event incident analysis, and IT security.

Graduates will be well prepared for a security management career in the following fields: government, defence, law enforcement, justice, critical infrastructure protection, consultancy, corporate, finance, resources, aviation, maritime, border protection, and customs.

 

HONOURS

Students whose performance over the three years of the course is of a high standard may be eligible to enter to the Honours degree.

 

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Overseas students may be admitted to the course subject to the University’s fee scale and admission requirements.

 

The language of instruction is English and all students are expected to be proficient in both spoken and written English. All assessment will be conducted in the English language.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Standard university entry requirements apply.

Students who have completed a TAFE Diploma, Polytechnic Diploma or its equivalent in an allied field may be admitted with advanced standing. Some students may be eligible for recognition of prior learning, subject to approval.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Students are required to complete 360 credit points (24 units), 240 credit points of which are core units (16 units), and a supporting major of 120 credit points (8 units). The supporting major areas of study offered are Business, Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety.
