NNT1106 Foundations of Nursing: Social, Indigenous and Cultural Perspectives
SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY
Credit Points: 15

Description:

In this nursing theory unit, the student will explore socio-cultural perspectives within health and nursing by first examining their own internalised value systems. The process of explaining the concept of culture from selected sociological frameworks and health models will enable students to examine and develop their concept of an holistic view of individuals, groups and the societal structures in which they live. Australian Indigenous culture will be used for focused comparison with other groups in order to illustrate nursing principles pertinent to health and wellness issues.
