EDU2110 Teaching, Learning and Assessment

Description:

Effective teachers engage students in meaningful learning.  Engaging students requires teachers to understand how students learn and to chose from, and implement, a range of teaching strategies. Thoughtful strategy application requires understanding of learning theory and human development so this unit explores the nature of the adolescent learner and the implications of these learner’s characteristics for teaching and learning.  This unit helps to prepare teachers as reflective professionals who are guided by principles when applying and justifying teaching strategies.  The unit is also intended to develop student teacher capability for demonstrating Phase One performance in Dimensions One, Two and Three of the Competency Framework for Teachers (EDTWA, 2001).
