French isn’t just the language of love. It’s widely spoken throughout the European Union, Switzerland, Canada, Africa and around the world. French is one of the most important languages in the fields of art, aviation, business, communications, dance, diplomacy, high fashion, innovative industries, journalism, literature, music, international politics sport, and tourism. Studying French at ECU gives you the edge in a large variety of careers whether you want to report on haute couture, do overseas aid work with the Red Cross, represent Australia at the UN, work as a tour guide at the Louvre, or become involved with Australia’s biggest two-way trading partner: The European Union. And it couldn’t hurt your love life either.

Students in the French Major from Introductory Level may, with the approval of the French Coordinator, substitute one (1) or two (2) of the following units for one or both of FRE3513 French (Advanced 3) and FRE3514 French (Advanced 4):
