Are you into Japanese manga, anime, novels, films, games, technology, cuisines or Tokyo fashion?  Perhaps creators such as Miyazaki Hayao or Murakami Haruki?  Find your own version of “cool Japan” by learning the language. Japanese majors learn all aspects of the Japanese language and concentrate on developing practical communicative competence in Japanese. A wide range of topics including Japanese Media and Japanese Society are covered within the course structure and interactive face to face classroom activities are combined with computer assisted language learning (CALL). You even get to have real-time communications with Japanese people on chat line as part of the course. ECU’s Japanese exchange programs also enable you to explore both modern and traditional Japan by studying at one of the exchange partner universities. The completion of ECU’s dynamic Japanese major will definitely give you better opportunities to widen your career perspectives.

The Major in Japanese from Introductory level comprises 120 credit points:  30 credit points at Level One, 45 credit points at Level Two and 45 credit points at Level Three as available.
