Description:

This unit focuses on the cultural and musical revolution in Jazz from 1900 to 1945. The course will concentrate the major musical innovations, the definitive stylistic characteristics, external musical influences and the seminal Jazz artists from the period. The unit will examine the body of recorded work associated with the period in conjunction with the relevant literature.
