Description:
This unit provides an introduction to learning from practice. The focus of this unit is to enable students to identify their own strengths and weaknesses as beginning youth work practitioners; to provide students with an understanding of the process of portfolio building; to provide students with opportunities to practise basic skills in working with young people, including making contact with young people, building trusting relationships, engaging the young person as a client, and working on a one to one basis with young people. The unit has a field-based practicum component.
