LST3051 Global English
SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ARTS
Credit Points: 15

Description:

English has grown from a tiny language on the edge of Europe to a language with a world-wide dominance in areas such as communication, technology, economics and international diplomacy.  Why is this and what are its implications for other languages and those who speak them?  What effect has this globalisation of English had on English itself and its speakers?  This unit will explore the answers to such questions from historical, contemporary and linguistic points of view.
