VAE3010 Visual Arts Education in Primary Schools

Description:

This unit introduces visual arts learning outcomes in the primary years. Through visual response and studio workshop activities, pre-service teachers will understand why the visual arts offer unique ways of expressing, interpreting and communicating ideas and feelings. Studio workshop sessions will allow pre-service teachers to develop their observation skills and imagination using a variety of materials and processes. The unit provides opportunities for pre-service teachers to use information technology to support the visual inquiry process. Contemporary visual arts teaching methods will be examined for their relevance to primary school classrooms.
