MIAAAQ  Water Planning Minor

Water is an increasingly scarce and valued resource for urban and rural communities in Australia and it is essential that long-term planning and management strategies are implemented to ensure the sustainability of water resources for contemporary and future generations.  The Water Planning Minor provides students with a specialisation focusing on the role that the planning system plays in managing water resources in Australia. The units in this minor provide students with an overview of the biological and chemical properties of freshwater and marine water resources as well as the planning and management strategies available to ensure the long-term sustainability of the freshwater and marine environments. Students are required to complete 60 credit points (4 units) for this minor.

*** For students in the Bachelor of Planning or the Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning SCI1185 Ecology is the only prerequisite required for SCI2257 Water and Wetlands Management, SCI3122 Sustainable Water Resource Management and SCI3256 Coastal and Marine Management.
