Business is experiencing enormous changes brought about, in part, by the multi-billion dollar evolution of e-Business and e-Commerce. This has brought about massive changes to businesses, markets and consumers.

e-Business systems are driven by technology, and students will examine some of these in the context of retailing, security, payment systems, world wide web infrastructure, and on-line auctions and communities. Students will also gain an understanding of the systems development process for e-Business systems; some of the multimedia elements used in e-business; the creation and management of on-line "shops"; and be able to articulate some of the key challenges facing businesses in the Internet age.

The unit will also examine the ethical, social and legal implications of business and technology, including methods used to protect online privacy and the challenge of protecting intellectual property. Students will also explore the changing careers brought about by the e-Business revolution.
