SAN3126 Dance, Music, Drama, Ritual: The Anthropology of Performance
SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ARTS
Credit Points: 15

Description:

Dance, Music, Drama and Ritual examines the role and meaning of these and related activities in the social context of a variety of cultures – especially those of the Asia-Pacific Region and Australia. By focusing on 'performance' -the choreographed or stylised display of rhythm, movement and ideas in symbolic language- the unit seeks to explore the social and psychological sense of 'performance' in the industrialised and less industrialised world. An optional field trip to Bali forms a component of the unit.
