Description:

This unit uses a workshop format to teach students generic counselling skills including reflective listening, probing, empathy, affirmation and paraphrasing. Counselling techniques specific to the alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) field are also addressed, including assessment, motivational interviewing, goal setting, problem solving and relapse counselling.
