Description:
This unit provides a comprehensive review of fundamental concepts and knowledge about mood-altering substances. Topics include: purposes of drug use; main categories of psychoactive drugs; how drugs interact with the human body; intoxication; history, characteristics and effects of selected drugs; epidemiology of drug use and drug-related problems; and Australia’s response to drug-related problems; demand reduction, supply control and harm reduction strategies;
