Research is an essential element of tourism policy, planning, development, management and marketing. In this unit we will explore the nature, scope and use of research as applied in many sectors of the tourism industry. The unit provides a basic introduction to research planning and design, including data collection and analysis techniques used in tourism research. A core component of the unit will be a ‘real world’ research project, which students will undertake in groups to become familiar with the research process from the development of a research question to the presentation of findings in a final report. Completion of this unit will provide students with the skills and knowledge to undertake practical tourism research in their professional careers. | |||
