Description:

This unit explores the particular characteristics and needs of women in specific minority groups including Aboriginal, migrant, unemployed, poor, disabled, young, lesbian, single and aged women. Having investigated theories regarding the interaction between gender, class and race in Western Society, students will explore the application of these theories to the social, political and economic situation of women. There will be an emphasis on developing skills to work effectively with women in minority groups, including networking, accessing, advocacy and social strategy development skills.
