Description:

This unit examines the investment, financing and dividend decisions made by corporations.  The investment decision is considered by extending discounted cash flow techniques to optimal replacement, abandonment and unequal life problems.  The unit will also consider the valuation of real options to capital investments.  The dividend and financing decisions are considered by examining the seminal works of Modigliani and Miller and their framework for establishing optimal dividend and financing policies.  In this unit there is consideration of both theory and practice which should be seen as complementary.  The major goal of the unit is to provide a framework for addressing the financial decisions faced by a corporation.
