ENG3207 Reading Theory

Description:

This unit explores a range of contemporary theoretical ideas.  It aims to challenge students' conceptions about the relationships of text to reality as well as to equip students to undertake theoretically-informed research at the undergraduate and the graduate levels.  We explore theories about interpretation, language, and ideology, concentrating ultimately on issues that are of current importance in the social world we live in, such as the nature and 'relativity' of truth and the commodification of knowledge.
