Q06 / H42 Master of Information and Knowledge Management

The Master of Information and Knowledge Management by coursework is designed to meet the demand for a high level of information and knowledge management skills and expertise by people working, or wishing to work, in the emerging knowledge-based industries.  The course is designed to impart the indepth theoretical and practical knowledge required for senior management and specialist positions in these industries.

 

The course has three focus streams of study: Information Architecture, Information Use, and Knowledge Management.  Although it is not compulsory that students limit their electives to one focus, it is advisable.

 

Students may exit this award after the completion of the two core 4000 level units and two electives with a Graduate Certificate of Information and Knowledge Management.  Students may exit this award after the completion of the two core 4000 level units and six electives with a Graduate Diploma of Science (Information and Knowledge Management).

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The minimum admission requirement is the completion of a three-year tertiary qualification and at least one year’s relevant industry experience.

 

COURSE LOCATION

The Master of Information and Knowledge Management is a three-semester full-time (or equivalent part-time) postgraduate course, study based at Mount Lawley Campus.  Selected units are available through

on-line study. Off-campus students MUST have regular and reliable access to the Internet and Ecourse.

 

MODE OF STUDY

This postgraduate course consists of eleven units, students will be required to complete five core units (two at Level 4000 and three at Level 5000), and six elective units as set out below.  Although it is not compulsory for students to select their six electives from one focus stream only, it is recommended.
