EDF1105 Becoming More Effective Learners

Description:

In this unit students will engage with learning theory and reflect on learning practices that they observe in the field.  The three broad theoretical perspectives of behavourism, social learning and cognitive learning will be introduced. The significance of varying cultural approaches to learning will be explored.   Links will be made between motivation and learning and students will be expected  to examine the implications of these theories and approaches for individual learners using a case approach and observations from the field. Furthermore, the unit will focus the students on themselves as learners in order to enable them to critique and refine their own professional learning practices and set goals for future learning.
