CENTRE FOR INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIAN EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (KURONGKURL KATITJIN)
Credit Points: 15

Description:
This unit has been designed as an introductory unit to financial services in an Indigenous Australian setting and considers the concepts and skills of business financial management practices. Its coverage begins with the inception of the business and takes the student through the common practices encountered in the typical life of a business with an emphasis on critical success factors. The unit is premised on the for-profit small business although most of the concepts are applicable to most non-profit-oriented ventures. The primary focus of the unit is from the point of view of an Indigenous Australian establishing and operating his/her own business. However, most of the practical skills and concepts covered by the unit are applicable to other organisations such as community organisations, non-profit undertakings and public bodies. In this way it is the aim of the unit to be of appeal to a wide spectrum of Indigenous Australian business owners, leaders and managers.
