M79 Graduate Certificate of Business (Marketing)

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Certificate of Business (Marketing) program is designed for business practitioners who wish to further their knowledge and understanding of marketing.  Business practitioners without formal degree qualifications who have experience in sales and/or marketing roles for several years, now have the opportunity to acquire an academic grounding in the marketing discipline to support their work place roles.

The course aims to provide a balance between theory and practice.  Participants are exposed to research and case study material in each area and through seminars, discussions and assigned project work.  The course offers flexibility, and a choice of units, mainly due to participants’:

  • varied backgrounds as evidenced by those who have completed, are presently enrolled and are continuing to enter this course;
  • specific vocational aspirations and/or business interests; and
  • reasons for undertaking formal studies, which may be either personal and/or employer related.
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An undergraduate degree OR equivalent prior learning including at least five years appropriate professional experience.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Successful completion of 60 credit points (4 units) over a one or two year period.

Plus 30 credit points (2 units) selected from core Marketing units.
 
MKT4110 Consumer Behaviour IV 15
MKT4112 Promotional Marketing IV 15
MKT4113 Professional Communication IV 15
MKT4130 Marketing Research IV 15
MKT4273 Services Marketing IV 15
 
Plus 15 credit points (1 unit) selected from (1) an area of specialisation; these specialisation areas could include units in Sales, Wine Marketing, International Marketing, Sport Marketing, Tourism, Leisure and Marketing Research; OR (2) any elective within the Faculty; OR (3) any other units approved by the Head of School (Marketing, Tourism and Leisure) or nominee.
