P93 / D57 Graduate Diploma of Communications (Journalism)

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Diploma of Communications is a one year full-time or equivalent part-time course designed to provide graduates of other disciplines with the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and understanding of a specialised field of communications.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

This course is available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley campus.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An appropriate three-year degree awarded by a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent.  Some fields of study within the Graduate Diploma may have special admission requirements.  Students should refer to the relevant section on major fields of study for further information.


Journalism

 

The Graduate Diploma of Communications (Journalism) equips graduates with knowledge of newsgathering, research and various forms of journalistic writing, both for print and broadcast, such as news, features, review, sports writing, health journalism, consumer information and on-line journalism.  They will gain familiarity with Media Law and Ethics, web authoring and desktop publishing and, at the end of their course, are expected to present articles of publishable standard.
