D86 / Q85 Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Art Therapy)

COURSE LOCATION & MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by full or part time study on the Mount Lawley campus.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should hold a undergraduate degree in a relevant field and sufficient pre-course experience in art psychotherapy or counselling.

 

The Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Art Therapy) is a one year course comprising four semester long units. Students may elect to complete the Post Graduate course or may re-apply for entry to the Masters course, of which the Post Graduate Diploma is Stage one. Successful completion of the Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Art Therapy) will give credit for Stage one of the Masters of Arts (Art Therapy) course.

 

 

Art Therapy is a unique form of psychotherapy in which art and image-making play central roles within therapeutic relationships.  It provides students with the opportunity to explore a wide range of arts based aspects of art psychotherapy in depth at both practical and theoretical levels. 

 

Students are taught through a combination of training groups, lectures, presentations and seminars. The course reflects advanced international models of practice and offers training within an innovative setting within the School of Contemporary Arts.
