Q41 / H45 Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health is recognised nationally and internationally as the appropriate qualification for those health professionals seeking to work in the public health domain.  The award will provide students with general and specific knowledge and skills for promoting and maintaining the physical, social and mental health of the public.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

Full-time or part-time study.  Units will be offered off-campus through external and on-line modes.  Some units may be available on the Joondalup Campus.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Relevant undergraduate degree or relevant Post Graduate Diploma.


COURSE STRUCTURE

Students will complete 12 units of study, including core units, major units, elective units and project unit(s).  There are two options for completion of the 12 unit course.

 

 
Option 1
 
2 Core units:
HST5161 Public Health: Philosophy, Principles and Practice 20 
HST5120 Epidemiology 20 
7 major and/or elective units
3 Project units:
HST5168 Public Health Research Proposal 20 
HST5169 Public Health Research Project 20 
HST5170 Public Health Research Project 20 
 
Option 2
 
2 Core units:
HST5161 Public Health: Philosophy, Principles and Practice 20 
HST5120 Epidemiology 20 
9 major and/or elective units
1 Project unit (research proposal)
HST5168 Public Health Research Proposal 20 
 
In addition to core units, students will complete units in a major area of study and will select elective units in consultation with the course coordinator.

Addiction Studies
Environmental Health
Health and Ecology
Health and Promotion
Men's Health Studies
Occupational Safety and Health
Public Health
Women's Health
