Graduate Diploma of Arts

 

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Diploma of Arts is a one year full-time, or equivalent part-time course designed to provide graduate students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to specific occupational fields.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An appropriate three year degree award from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent.

Some fields of study within the Graduate Diploma of Arts may have special admission requirements.  Students should refer to the relevant section on major fields of study for further information.

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

The course consists of eight units of study.

 

The following fields of study are available in the School of International, Cultural and Community Studies:

 

      Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies

      Consultancy in Human and Social Services

      Language Studies

      Professional Writing

      Public Policy and Analysis

      Religious Studies

Professional Writing

 

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Diploma of Arts (Professional Writing) is designed to enable professional employees to become proficient in a wide range of writing activities.  The course includes researching, designing and writing technical business reports, conducting feasibility studies and preparing manuals.  The course extends studies commenced in the Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The core (WRT) units are available by part-time external study.  The specialist units are available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley and Joondalup campuses.

 
 
The course consists of eight units of study:

WRT4103 Production, Editing and Design 15
WRT4104 Application, Proposal and Tender Writing 15
 
Plus four units selected from one or more of the following areas of specialism. Not more than four second or third level units may be included.

Students without vocational experience may substitute the unit CMM4104 Professional Placement for one unit in their area of specialisation.
