S74 Graduate Certificate of Education (Early Childhood Studies)

The Graduate Certificate of Education (Early Childhood Studies) is designed for primary teachers who wish to have a recognised qualification to teach in Kindergarten and Pre-primary settings. This Graduate Certificate is suitable to articulate into the Master of Education course. The course of study is designed to extend the skills and understandings in early childhood education and pedagogy.

 

This is a fee paying course.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission to this course requires the completion of a four year primary teaching qualification i.e., a Bachelor of Education (Primary)or (ECS), or a three year degree and a Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of Primary teaching experience
 
Three year trained teachers with extensive primary teaching experience may apply for special entry.

This course is available in the following mode of delivery - On-campus.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

The Graduate Certificate of Education (ECS) is a 60 credit point (four units) part-time award. The course has two components:

  • 45 credit points (3) on-campus theory units and
  • 15 credit points (1) off campus field based unit.

The are three options for study in this award. Students can choose to complete units which will enable them to teach in K and PP settings or Pre-K settings.

 
OPTION 1: For Teachers with a Primary Degreee who wish to teach in the K and PP years:

OPTION 3: For teachers with a Degree in Early Childhood Studies (K-3) who wish to teach in the Pre-K.

Plus any two units from the Master of Education program
