Description:
This unit introduces the student to the set workshop and the wardrobe workshop. The basics of tools and machinery are introduced as well as a comprehensive safety program. A compulsory First Aid course precedes this workshop. Basic hand and power tools are mastered and simple set construction undertaken. Costume construction techniques are taught and basic sewing skills mastered. Knowledge of both workshop practices and operational needs within the industry is covered. Assist on production allows students to assist in a variety of production work. This unit introduces the student to the basic operational processes of film and TV production. Awareness of the roles of studio personnel, knowledge of camera operation and introduction to the control room is covered. Basic film techniques involve practical exercises.
