EDU2103 Problem Solving and Enterprise in the Real World
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 15

Description:

Problem solving taught in schools tends to concentrate on puzzles where the teacher knows the answer. This unit will show students how to tackle problems where there is no known or obvious answer. The aim is to sharpen students’ problem-solving and enterprise skills so that they will be better prepared to cope with confidence in unfamiliar territory.

A variety of theoretical problem solving models and basic principles of enterprise commonly employed in the business sector will be examined and analysed. These will be illustrated with practical examples. Students will then be shown how the models and principles can be transferred to the classroom and taught in the primary school.
