SCI2107 Tree Pests and Diseases

Description:

This unit introduces students to the identification and control of pests and diseases of trees and forests.  Students will study the taxonomy, ecology and life-cycles of insects and pathogens as well as methods for assessing tree decline symptoms to build some basic skills in diagnosing causes of poor tree health.  The interactions between pest, pathogens, environmental stresses and management practices are also covered, as well as options and constraints for the effective control and/or management of tree pests and diseases.
