SCI3212 Plantation Management and Agroforestry

Description:

This unit applies ecological and silvicultural principles to the management of plantations and agroforestry systems, with particular empahsis on the optimisation of both yield and quality objectives and their environmental, social and economic benefits.  The unit also examines decisions guiding species selection, spatial arrangement of trees at local, regional and landscape scales, and management of potential problems such as fire, pests and diseases.  Students will also learn techniques for the economic assessment of plantations.
