ERH3210 The Health and Physical Education Learning Area

Description:

An introduction to the nature and scope of the Health and Physical Education (HPE) Learning Area. Socio-cultural and biophysical influences on teaching and learning in this area will be explored, with consideration to outcomes within and across diverse populations.  Individual and societal influences on children's health and physical activity status will be studied.  Structures, applications and effects of Health Promotion will be explored.

 

A range of teaching models and curriculum documents will be reviewed to assist students to plan, teach, assess and review developmentally appropriate HPE learning experiences in the integrated classroom.  Practical movement classes will focus on core areas of dance, games, fitness and fundamental movement skills and on developing effective strategies for managing and organising students in the HPE learning setting.
