Description:
This unit provides students with a conceptual understanding of the professional as constituted by an ethically bounded relationship with the client. The specific content of the professional youth work relationship is discussed. Students will explore a range of frameworks for ethical thinking and the opportunity to work through a range of ethical principles and problems relevant to the youth work context. As well as the issues surrounding the professional relationship and ethical practice, students will debate the ethics of power relations, the nature of corruption and exploitation, and the ethics of accountability to employing and funding bodies.
