Description:
Foundation 1 is a practical studio unit and introduces students to the fundamental principals of visual language in both material and virtual environments. In conjunction with Studies in Visual Culture 1 and Visual Arts Elective 1, Foundation units encourage students to experience both practical and theoretical issues across a broad field of art and design practice through projects, workshops, lectures and group discussion. In addition to individual approaches to the production of creative works, the use of workshops encourage interdependent skills and collaborative team practices.

This unit introduces core concepts in material and virtual arts as a support for both theoretical and practical research in the production of visual culture.
