Description:
This unit is the core curriculum unit of study for secondary students who wish to undertake a major or a minor in the teaching of Society and Environment / Social Studies and / or any of the Social Sciences. It includes a study of the nature and structure of Society and Environment /Social Studies as outlined in the Curriculum Framework, Outcomes and Standards Framework, the Unit Curriculum, and the Social Studies K-10 Syllabus. Areas of focus include new directions for Society and Environment, lesson planning, teaching and learning strategies including outcomes based approaches, resources, and concept building for the lower secondary Society and Environment students.
