SSE2102 Teaching Primary Society and Environment

Description:
This unit investigates the nature and scope of the Society and Environment Learning Area within the context of the WA Curriculum Framework; analyses the structure, content and use of the Western Australian Social Studies K-10 Syllabus materials; examines inquiry-orientated teaching strategies and learning activities for developing conceptual understandings, processes and skills, and core values underpinning the active citizenship outcome; identifies a range of Society and Environment teaching and learning resources; examines techniques for monitoring and reporting the level of achievement of outcomes; and introduces a model for long-term planning within an outcomes-based curriculum.
