SAN1102 The Anthropology of Aboriginal Societies

Description:
This unit is an introduction to anthropological studies of Aboriginal societies. The unit discusses both the importance of anthropological findings for an understanding of Aboriginal cultures both past and present and considers contending anthropological views about aspects of Aboriginal culture. Issues concerning continuity and change in Aboriginal cultures are discussed. The unit examines the ethical issues facing anthropologists who wish to carry out research with Aboriginal communities.
