PPA2364 Professional Practice 1
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 6

Description:
PPA2364 is one of a series of Professional Practice units designed to scaffold student teachers’ learning and development of teaching and management skills and their professional development. This unit provides student teachers with an opportunity to plan, teach and evaluate learning encounters within a centre/primary classroom. This work will be completed through the mentoring of the teacher who, in turn, acts as a support for the learning and development of the student teacher/s assigned to them. Student teachers will be expected to prepare detailed plans for each learning session for which they have responsibility, and to evaluate their own and the children’s learning.

When not directly involved in teaching the group, student teachers are expected to be actively involved in the learning of children and the work of the centre/school. This will include observation, participation in groups taught by others, working with individuals or small groups, or assisting teachers with their non-teaching responsibilities. Some of this work may involve specific tasks associated with other university units.

This Unit is part of the following Courses / Unit Sets
